My cell phone was my life. It was like my road map to the world; a little gadget inside my pocket that gave me access to unlimited amounts of knowledge, directions to my next adventure, and the connection to my friends and family. Naturally, when my cell phone broke, I was devastated. How am I going to call a ride home? How will I check my email while waiting in line for an overpriced cup of coffee? My life was in shambles.
How I Ended Up Utilizing E Waste Disposal
This is how the catastrophe went down. I work your typical 9am-5pm job in an office. I’m stuck in a cubicle all day, forced to stare at a grey wall all by myself. I get kind of stir-crazy in there sometimes. I’m only allowed a 30-minute lunch break, so I often brown bag it. They call me the peanut butter and jelly connoisseur. Pretzels on the side—your typical third grade “I don’t have any lunch money” lunch.
But yesterday I snapped. I could feel the rage boiling up inside me. I was sick of staring at that grey wall and sick of scraping peanut butter off the roof of my mouth. I’m a 24-year-old woman, for God’s sake. I deserve so much better than an insane asylum for a work space. And that’s when I decided to quit my day job and go outside for once!
And That’s When It Happened…
I peeked my head into my boss’s office, heart pounding quicker than a hummingbird’s, and squeaked out a little “I quit”. Those two words made butterflies go crazy inside my stomach. And you’d never guess my boss’s reaction: a shrug. A SHRUG! Was I not even worth a pep talk? I suppose not. This was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. I whipped around and ran out of that 12-story building quicker than you can even say “quit”.
I began to walk, and walk, and walk some more, when I finally came upon some train tracks in the most beautiful and serene wooded area. I thought to myself, “This is Instagram-worthy,” and snapped a quick pic. That’s when I heard the train horn. Yet again, I whipped around and ran. But suddenly, my precious cell phone slipped from the grip of my hands, crashing to the ground. Low and behold, my screen was smashed to smithereens. My absolute worst nightmare just happened. I didn’t even get to post the photo to Instagram!
Looking at My Options: E Waste Disposal
I was at a loss for words. I made my way back home (after getting lost several times and having to purchase a map at a gas station) and sat down in front of my ancient desktop computer. I searched for cheap, used phones and somehow stumbled across e waste disposal. What a cool idea! I could bring in my broken companion and make some cash on top of it. Not to mention, they’ll even recycle old computers in Jacksonville!
After the crazy day that I had, I dropped off my broken phone and prehistoric computer, purchased new ones, and began looking for a new job (no cubicles, please).
