Building Relationships, Renewing Resources

About Us : Our Company

Main Metal Recycling has been providing scrap metal recycling services to industry and individuals for over 40 years. We are proud to belong to an industry that provides thousands of jobs, diverts millions of tons of material from landfills, and makes a positive impact on the U.S. balance of trade and resource sustainability. Producing new material from scrap uses 95 percent less energy than producing the same product from our natural resources.

Jim Pope

Jim Pope, President, succeeded his father, the late William Pope, who purchased the business from the family of the original owner, the late Maurice Bartley. Recyclables were called "scrap" when Jim was a child watching his father work. "Once you get scrap in your blood," he says, "it stays with you."

Main Metal Recycling employees know hundreds of customers by name. Many customers have been recycling with our company since the 1960's and today bring their grandchildren with them, teaching new generations that recycling is good for our environment and our economy. We enjoy purchasing scrap metal from manufacturers, contractors, and individuals. We are committed to building long-term relationships and to providing a safe environment for our employees as well as our customers. We take our responsibility to our employees and customers, environment and community seriously.

The Main Metal Team

We offer a friendly, service oriented atmosphere, fair pricing, and state certified scales. We work within the guidelines of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) and abide by the laws set up for our industry by the state of Florida.

We are a member of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI), a professional organization representing more than 1,500 large and small scrap recycling companies nationwide. ISRI provides education, compliance, and safety training to our industry while promoting "public awareness of the vital role recycling plays in the U.S. economy, global trade, the environment, and sustainable development."

We are committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and our customers and have signed the ISRI safety pledge, which reads in part, "we pledge to consider worker and customer safety in every decision we make. Our mission as a company is to serve customers and produce high-quality product safely. If we cannot do it safely, we will not do it at all."
